Councillor Fiona Colley, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Corporate Strategy at Southwark Council, said: "Growing and supporting our small business base is vital to Southwark Council's plans to create a dynamic economy in the borough. I am very pleased that despite the government funding cuts we have been able to continue providing business support over the next two years through our innovative partnership with Lewisham. Free and high-quality support and advice is more important than ever both to encourage new business start-ups and to help others not only to survive but to grow through the recession."
Chandra Sharma, Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, South East London Branch, said: “The Greater London FSB welcomes efforts of the two Councils to join forces to develop a shared business support service. In these cash-strapped times it is important that small businesses have access to a high quality business support service and this new joint initiative offers an innovative way to offer this. The FSB will continue to work closely with Lewisham and Southwark Councils to help support the local business community.”
