Cllr Paul Bell, Cllr Joan Millbank and Dame Joan Ruddock MP attended the Honor CommUNITY Day on Saturday, 11 February, 2012. It was a great community event to recognise the work that so many do on the Honor Oak Estate for the people who live there. It was also a chance to celebrate community activism and making a positive change.

Cllr Joan Millbank said, "It was a wonderful experience to see the community coming together for the benefit of each other," while Cllr Bell said, "This is why I love being a councillor, especially for Telegraph Hill, as the people who live here deserve the best and are the best advocates for our community."

After a long hard battle, Crofton Park Library will remain open. The Mayor has decided to transfer Crofton Park Library, Grove Park Library and Sydenham Library to Darren Taylor of Eco Computers to run as a social enterprise. This is particularly important to the residents of the Honor Oak Estate.

New Cross Library will be closed temporarily to enable repairs and Blackheath Library has been transferred to Age Exchange. However, Cllr Bell said, "The campaign continues to fight for a community library, with longer opening hours on New Cross Road. More time is available to do this now and bids are still invited for the library. More details will follow on this site soon."

But for Crofton Park Community Library, residents of the Honor Oak Estate will eventually be able to use the library with:

·        Longer opening hours
·        A café
·        A Job Club
·        Community space
·        Computer training
