The blurb: LOCOG Moment to Shine Torchbearer nomination fact file: To nominate a Torchbearer through the LOCOG programme go to www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay There are six weeks to nominate. The deadline for nominations is 11.59pm 29 June 2011. Nominees must be UK residents. Only individuals may be nominated. Anyone over 12 at the time of nomination can be put forward as a Torchbearer through the LOCOG programme. Parent/Guardian consent will be obtained. The minimum age to make a nomination through the LOCOG programme is also 12 at the time of nomination. Parent/Guardian consent will be obtained. Younger people are asked to find an adult to make the nomination on their behalf who should state in the 150 word text box who they are making the nomination on behalf of. Nominators will need to submit 100 - 150 words about why their chosen nominee should carry the Olympic Flame. Nominators must secure the permission of their nominee to be put forward.
The nomination process is not a popularity contest and the number of nominations will not influence whether a nominee is successful. Individuals receiving more than one nomination will have one nomination selected at random to ensure that only one nomination per person goes forward for judging by the relevant Nations and Regions judging panel. If required, LOCOG will ballot the nominations received to ensure that no more than 15 nominations for every one place on offer is judged by the relevant Nations and Regions judging panel in the autumn of 2011.
