From Sgt Karl Parish to the management company Solitaire:
To whom it may concern,
I am the Police Sergeant for Telegraph Hill SNT. We cover the area including Pincott Place, SE4 and work in close partnership with Lewisham Council and the Community Wardens.
My team, along with local residents and the wardens are being continually challenged regarding the potential fire hazards within the private premises of Pincott Place, SE4, the abandoned vehicles being found within and other complaints that are NOT our responsibility.
This week we recently removed a stolen vehicle that was displaying false plates.
Most complaints are regarding abandoned cars that are not stolen, tyres being dumped on this private Estate and general rubbish not being cleared.
May I respectfully ask that your company maintain routine patrols on the Estate and deal with residents complaints appropriately, in order that my team and local wardens are not continually harassed regarding your residents complaints.
I look forward to hearing from you

Dear Sergeant Parish,
Thank you for your email the contents of which I note. I would respond to your comments as follows:
I am sorry to hear that the residents of Pincott Place are contacting you with issues that are not your responsibility, I would advise that I met with a core group of residents (including Cllr Whittle) where we discussed various issues, and the only one that was felt that the Police could assist on was the potential element of stolen or abandoned cars at Pincott Place. However at no time was it suggested that the Police would deal with every problem at the development. It was asked by the residents if the wardens could be more visible on the development as they appreciated we can only attend during office hours and most activity was either at weekends or evenings.
As you are fully aware, Pincott Place only has one entrance into and out of the development, which is gated. The codes were recently changed (at the request of the Leaseholders to deter vehicles and other items being dumped). More recently the tyre issue, which I understand was brought to the attention of the Police as we also had concerns (given the volume of tyres being dumped)and thought this was something that you should be aware of. We have written to the Leaseholders whose parking bays the tyres are dumped on requesting their advises as to whether the tyres belong to them or not, with a view to having them removed asap. Two lorry loads have already been removed with a third to be collected shortly. In fact the core group that I met with agreed to see if they could find a local company that may take them for free or a small charge and recycle them.
As advised to the Leaseholders and Cllr Whittle at the recent meeting, we carry out an inspection on a monthly basis and therefore deal with issues when they arise, DVLA searches are carried out on the untaxed vehicles and I also believe that we have contacted the Police in the past requesting their assistance to see if any of the vehicles are registered as stolen, which would save a DVLA search being undertaken. Previously the Police have been very cooperative in this regard. The group that I met with were made aware that the searches do take some weeks to come back, however as the majority of cars are parked on allocated bays there is little we can do other than obtain ownership details and advise the vehicle must be road worthy and taxed. I believe that following the meeting with the residents notices have been issued to the cleaners to put on all vehicles that are untaxed advising that searches are being undertaken, and therefore if the notices have not yet already been applied to the vehicles they will be shortly.
Your comments in relation to general rubbish not being cleared, is not true as a works order is raised monthly to clear such dumped items. This was agreed by the residents at the meeting to undertake removals on a monthly basis as this would be cheaper than attending weekly. We know there is an issue of items being dumped but unless a witness is willing to come forward and advise who it is that is dumping there is nothing we can do other than remove the items and charge this back to the service charge.
Finally, I would advise that ALL residents at Pincott Place know how to contact our offices and have been advised this in writing and in the form of a news letter, if we are not aware of an issue there is little we can do to assist.
I trust the above clarifies our passion but if I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on the above email address.
Regards
